CSRD legislation, which will be mandatory for companies from 2024

November 30, 2023

The new one will come into effect from 2024 Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) in operation, a significant step towards improved sustainability reports by companies in the European Union. This legislation expands existing reporting requirements and applies to a broader range of companies.

The CSRD applies to companies that meet the following criteria:

  • A workforce of more than 250 employees.
  • An annual turnover of more than 40 million euros.
  • More than 20 million euros on the balance sheet.

These criteria mean that a significant number of medium-sized and large companies within the EU will have to prepare for new reporting requirements. The CSRD requires detailed reporting on how business activities impact social and environmental aspects, as well as information on how the company addresses sustainability issues.

The aim of the CSRD is to increase transparency and provide investors, consumers and other stakeholders with reliable and comparable information on sustainability performance. This marks a significant shift in how companies report on their impact on society and the environment, while driving the transition to a more sustainable economy.
