What are the new sustainable materials we are seeing in promotional items?
There are a few new materials on display, and materials that are becoming sustainable.
Stone paper, also known as rockpaper or stone paper
Matte paper is a paper made of 80% calcium carbonate and 20% HDPE polyethylene. The calcium carbonate is extracted from limestone quarries, and the polyethylene is made from biopolymers. It has many advantages for a sustainable earth:
- ENVIRONMENT: saves up to 20% printing ink and reduces environmental pollution.
- CO2 : Stone paper production releases much less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than normal paper.
- CHEMICALS: Matte paper is naturally white. No acids or bleach are required in production. Chemical waste is effectively avoided and no toxic gases are released in case of burning.
- ENERGY : The notebook that does its bit for a positive ecological footprint. The production of stone paper consumes significantly less energy compared to the production of paper from pulp.
- VEGETATION: Stone paper contributes to the preservation of the natural vegetation of our planet. The composition of this material contains no plant fibers.
